Terms and Conditions

Pricing and Consignment Period: CHC has the exclusive right to price and sell your items. Pricing is based on research of current resale market value among multiple databases for comparable condition and demand.

Pricing is emailed upon completion and you have 24 hours to notify CHC via email or phone to pick up a new arrival item with no penalty. Items must be picked up within 48 hours to avoid $7/day storage fee and risk of donation or forfeiture if not picked up in 7 days.  Non-seasonal items will be consigned for 120 days. Seasonal items expire based on posted dates in the store, but typically expire within 7 days after the holiday (Xmas 21 days). It is the consignor’s responsibility to know the seasonal drop-off and pick-up dates. CHC cannot be held responsible for any items donated after the consignment period ends.


Inventory is reduced 10% every 30 days, 20% at 60 days and 30% at 90 days and a final reduction at the 120th day. You give CHC permission to move up reduction date within a 7-day period otherwise CHC does not negotiate prices. You cannot retrieve any item until the 90th day. If you do pick anything up before the 90th day, you will pay a fee of 30% of the item’s original posted selling price prior to picking the item up. CHC has exclusive rights to sell your approved items. You may not cross post on social media or conduct simultaneous, private or marketed sales of any item accepted by CHC. You may not use any CHC business premise, photos, inventory links, marketing or social media postings or parking lot to conduct your own sales efforts for any items. CHC reserves the right to seek commission on unauthorized sales.

 

Commission: You receive 50% of the actual selling price of the item. Your payout will be based on the final selling price less fees, taxes and a buyer’s premium. A buyer’s premium ($1-$10) will be added to the price of each item. This fee is paid by the buyer only and you will not be charged for any portion of this fee nor does it affect your portion of the base sale price. This fee is added to the price to cover e-commerce advertising and social media marketing fees. CHC reserves the right to select items to promote on our online store based on demand trends. You are not charged for this service because it is covered by the buyer’s premium.

 

Payments: CHC does not contact you when items sell. You are responsible for stopping by, emailing or calling us every 30 days. Please do not call more often than that. Payouts are available 24 hours after items have gone home with the buyer. CHC does not automatically mail payments. You will need to request a check to be mailed and a $2 fee handling fee will be assessed. Cash and checks picked up in the store will not be assessed a fee when picked up within the calendar year. At the end of each calendar year, every account is closed out and assessed a $2 end-of-year handling fee. End-of- year checks are available for pick up at the store or can be mailed if residence is outside of Cuyahoga or Lorain county. Payments not picked up or cashed within the following calendar year will expire and be forfeited to store credit only. A $35 stop payment fee will be applied for lost checks due to incorrect address or failure to update an address.

 

Unsold Items: CHC notifies you 30 days in advance (90th day) via email of items unsold. This notification is automatically generated from CHC’s software to allow you time to make plans to pick up or donate these items. CHC will not call you or contact you after the 90th day email given the high volume of items we handle. CHC reserves the right to donate items not picked up by the 127th day since initial pricing of item. Due to our high volume, CHC is unable to pull your unsold items, so please allow ample time to look for and pull your items. Please bring packing materials, bags or boxes to pack your items. We can only provide newspaper for your items, stock permitting. Any item left behind after the 127th day will be forfeited to CHC and/or donated to charity. Items will be donated outright or sold at a discount and a portion of the proceeds will be donated local charity. We cannot donate any items that we refuse to take on consignment, as we do not have space in our backroom to accommodate outside donations.

 

Pre-Approval/Schedule/Movers: Furniture, 5x7 or larger rugs and 32” or larger wall décor, chandeliers or other bulky items require pre-approval via online submission and scheduling within no less than 7 days. Insurance prohibits us to assist in loading or unloading any items from your vehicle. Please plan accordingly & bring sufficient help to avoid cancellation. CHC requires a $25 fee to display wool and/or bulky rugs that are larger than 5x7 to cover professional mover’s expense for hanging on rug rack or moving vignettes to display on our showroom floor. This fee also applies to heavy, bulky, or tedious assembled items. This fee is waived if you use a professional moving company to pick up, deliver and display large rugs or bulky items. CHC uses a third-party moving company and consignor is responsible for all costs associated with transportation. Costs are agreed upon with mover and consignor only. CHC is not responsible for any moving/transportation fees associated with your item. Consignor is not required to use CHC’s third-party moving company to transport items. Any furniture scheduled to arrive in 7 days to CHC that fails to arrive will be assessed a reservation change fee. This fee is based on size of item to recoup losses incurred for reserving space for your item(s). Fees for furniture 36” wide or less $50 per item, 37-60” wide $75 per item, 61-80” wide $100 per item, 81-99” wide $150, and items greater than 99” wide $250 per item.

 

Right of Refusal & Disposal: We only select items in most demand in our market and must be in excellent condition, assembled, clean, odor/stain free. Items sun faded, stained, worn or with odors (smoke, pet, mildew, etc.), damaged, never seen before, or appears different in person upon arrival will be refused. If items were delivered through movers, you will be notified via email on refused items and must be picked up within 48 hours, or we have the right to donate or dispose and assess a minimum $7 per item handling/space fee. Consignor is responsible for mover fees including refused or returned items.

 

Repair or Assembly Fees: Any item not in ready to sell condition and requires extra cleaning, vacuuming, touch up, or repairs will be charged a minimum $8 fee. Items missing bulbs, batteries, hardware, etc. will be charged a supply replacement fee and deducted from your account. CHC will charge minimum $25 fee to assemble furniture or parts.

 

Liability & Warrants: All items remain your property and your responsibility to carry insurance to cover any damage, loss, theft, burglary, fire, flood or destruction. You agree to indemnify and hold CHC harmless from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages or costs from any cause whatsoever. CHC may revise the terms and conditions of this agreement and shall be applied to any items accepted prior to revisions.
